Senior Windows Server and Network Systems Engineer – San Francisco/Redwood City

San Francisco and Redwood City, California, United States Full-time

Knowing Technologies provides managed IT services to K-12 independent and charter schools. Our promise is to create an environment where technology is so well integrated, reliable, and readily available that it becomes an unobtrusive part of teaching, learning, and administration.

We’re looking for people with the right technical skills who want to join a small company that’s rapidly growing and who want to make an impact in education. Knowing Technologies was founded in 2006. We service more than 40 San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles Area schools - and we are hiring in both locations.

  • You will be the safety net for our newer engineers as they develop their skills, handling the most complicated technology issues, and meeting our SLAs.
  • You love networking, and know it well, but you also have a superb understanding of Windows servers in a network support and application environment.
  • You will handle several things at once and will prioritize when conflicting problems compete for your processing and troubleshooting skills.
  • You will have experience with medium-sized network projects that include switch and VLAN architecture, VPNs, firewalls, and traffic management.
  • You will be flexible and able to work nights/weekends, when required.
  • LA applicants: You must be able to travel to the San Francisco Bay Area for training and collaboration with coworkers.

  • Facile with PowerShell and network monitoring and diagnostic tools

About you

  • You get excited when boxes of new products and tools come in and you can’t wait to see how it works — and when it doesn’t, you want to be the first to figure out why.
  • You are a natural problem solver. You can master new applications before most folks have been through the first tutorial.
  • You want to keep mastering new end user, Wi-Fi, and data center technology and learn how to provide it to others.
